Handmade style by Oshadi and Plantation House

Our search for stores that appreciate history, stories and the beauty of crafts is always on. Bringing handmade gorgeousness to you is a joy, and that’s what motivates us to always keep an eye out for independent  stores selling handmade products.  These lovely ‘handmade’ stores are home to the masterpieces created by artisans and the designer-makers. Most importantly they make these masterpieces available to the likes of you and me.

Our search this week took us to two beautiful stores. While both of them have their unique imprint on the styles they create, they firmly believe in the same core principles of using handmade fabric and supporting artisans. There is a whole world of handmade out there, a world of incredible talent, a world of sweat and love, and it’s only fair that we keep digging and pulling these little jewels for our readers. Until our next ‘store finding adventure’, enjoy the treats provided by these two, and I hope that you will be able to  find  ‘a little something’ for yourself too.

The colours, the styles and the softness of it all… beautiful, indeed! …by Plantation House

Based in Chennai, this is a label that is committed to playing a part in reviving India’s traditional craft heritage.  With this as the basis, they then go on to using artisanal techniques such as  hand weaving, natural dyeing and IKAT to create garments that suit the modern lifestyle.  If this wasn’t enough to tempt you, then, I must mention that they have also been awarded the Butterfly Mark by Positive Luxury for their commitment to fair and sustainable work practices. I absolutely love their cuts, style and the magic they create with muslin. Do you? Have a peep and fall in love…

Didn’t these elegantly styled clothes make your heart sing? The artisans and designer-makers who create this gorgeousness,  always use natural fibres (that we love), avoid the bling factor(that we totally love ) and create exquisite styling (that we love very, very much, indeed!). What brilliance! May your tribe increase, talented folks!
