Studio VAM, founded by Mrunmayee Namjoshi specialises in handcrafted textile-based jewellery, especially designed keeping the free-spirited woman in mind.
The jewellery is inspired from the rich cultural heritage and aesthetics of India. Each piece of jewellery holds a story of the village it comes from and the hands that make it. Unusual material combinations, quirky designs and them being extremely light-weight make this range of jewellery and accessories just perfect.
Studio VAM’s debut collection is inspired from the tribes around India, right from the Rabaris of Kutch to the Bhils of Jhabua. The effortlessness in the maximalism of their attire is translated into the jewellery. The collection that followed this was the Kuchchi Daastaan, a collaboration with the Blue-pottery craftsmen from Jaipur and it takes its inspiration from the Afghani bohemians.
The products are built using textile as a medium, exploring its versatility by shaping it in simple geometric forms and their further adornment by the likes of metal trinkets, glass beads and similar . Further techniques such as hand-sewing, hand-knotting, hand-embroidery are used to achieve the final look.
