Meet Prerana Choudhury, founder of House of Noorie

House of Noorie, founded by Prerana Choudhury is a storytelling & experimental handloom venture working with indigenous communities of Assam. Believing in economic & environmental sustainability through community-led interventions in the field of textile art & craft is the fundamental belief of this organisation.  Their current limited collection comes from the Mishing cluster in Majuli. Interventions there happen in home-based weaving villages, wherein the weavers (primarily women) weave for themselves, their families & neighbourhood in a quasi-commercial manner or through a barter system.

Saris, stoles, dupattas and yardages; you will find them all in their repertoire.  Here is a peep into House of Noorie’s Kopahee collection from Majuli, Assam. All made in cotton and in the most ‘happy’ colours.
